Assignment 9
The problem with the DMCA.
When the Digital Millennium Copyright Act passed back in 1998, the internet was very different place. When they wrote it i dot think they where expecting it to turn into this huge media outlet, like how it is today. The speeds of the internet has change a lot since then as well. Making that content faster and more readily available to the public. Back then they did not have website services like Vimeo and Youtube where anyone can join and host their own videos, copyrighted or not. Also when the created it they didn't have have torrents. For though's of you who are not familiar with a torrent. A torrent is a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol used to share files over the internet. This invention completely switched up the game on how we share media. More content and media is available to you on the internet then you could ever possibly imagine. Search engines just make it easier to find these things.
The internet is shifting with all of these new Web 2.0 technologies. Its more about sharing things if anything else. Its progressively getting easier for the average user to find things that he/she is interested in.
Assignment 10

Just suppose to customize and add rss feeds using google reader.
Google is so awesome. If you really know how to use it, it makes the internets twice as cool.
True story, real talk.

Internet Censorship
I will be comparing some terms across a few different search engines. To try and see the differences on each search sites. I want to try and find witch information is not being shown. How censored is the internet really?
The Search engines will be comparing are; Google, Bing, Biadu, and Google.cn
The 4 search terms
1. uss yorktown nt
2. google china censorship
3. Tiananmen Square
4. Taiwan independence
Ok now to start searching for the first term "uss yorktown nt"
On Google My results where 1 - 10 of about 4,290
On Bing My results where 1-10 of 8,010
On Biadu to find relevant web pages 100,--Whatever that means--
On Google.cn My results where 1 - 10 of about 4,330
For this Search Result i found that the Chinese websites I felt like they had a few different things to say about it. There was the same amount of searches across google's. This information about the USS Yorktown must be more publicly available.
Searching for my second term "google china censorship"
On Google My results where 1 - 10 of about 419,000,000
On Bing My results where 1-10 of 3,260,000
On Biadu to find the relevant page of about 16,500 articles
On China.cn My results where 1 - 10 of about 293,000,000
Each Search was completely different. I am sure it is for obvious reasons. I am sure China is toning down the chatter about this topic. Its Kind of a touchy subject, China has probably the most users on the internet and yet they really are only just seeing a fraction of it. Their government has more control over the ports being block.
Searching for my third term "Tiananmen Square"
On Google My results where 1 - 10 of about 1,350,000
On Bing My results where 1-10 of 679,000
On Biadu to find the relevant page of about 1,820 articles
On China.cn My results where 1 - 10 of about 42,500
Wow, you would think Tiananmen Square would be popular in china. It was a major political for them. It changed the way China is today. There was like a 3rd of the results that showed on Google.cn. Maybe the government ( The people Controlling the internet) does not want people talking about this, so they just limit the internet traffic. That is sad, the internet is one of the only outlets where you are allowed to say what you want. China is not saying what it wants. When i see search results like this, it really makes me wonder.
Searching for my fourth term "Taiwan independence"
On Google My results where 1 - 10 of about 1,110,000
On Bing My results where 1-10 of 4,340,000
On Biadu to find the relevant page of about 68,300 articles
On China.cn My results where My results where 1-10 of 53,600,000
China politically does not want Tiawan to become independent. The search results are just a direct reflection of that.
Wow, I hate to say this but Bing is better than Google for somethings but they go hand and hand. It seems like the Chinese search engines don't have as much information available to them. I am sure there are many different reasons why that is. Witch totally sucks. The internet is the one true place where you have freedom of speech and knowledge. The Chinese are obviously not getting that.

BFC @ Hood River.
Found this Video on Vimeo. Its a short little video made by Boarders For Christ.
I like all the parts where they are skating the medium bowl on the pool coaping part. There is an upside down cross, big ups to Scotty for painting that back in the day. Oh yeah and don't forget Karl for painting over it again. There is something ironic about this video. I guess i like it cus its in HD and it looks good.

Skate and Annoy » Archive » Reality folds in on itself. Ride

So my room mate got Tony Hawk's Ride for xmas. I checked it out. It frustrated me very much, because its nothing like real skateboarding at all. To compare the two would just be a joke. I saw this post on Skate and Annoy and i thought it was a better use for the board.
